a cage of rib bones
a hollowed out shell.

where you hear the sea,
the kind with echoes
of you and of me.

tell me what happened
or where i went wrong.

whispering stories

a real fairytale endingcross my fingers
cross my heart

like a black cat
trailing omens and allergens.

displaced and disarmed
what am i left with?

but chasing white rabbits
and fairytale endings
never got me very far from here.

it has become much too late
and this heart has become much too heavy;
the heel of my glass slipper broke
and it left my foot bleeding.

i'll leave myself a trail to follow back
(more permanent than breadcrumbs)
just to lock myself in this tower

and cut off all my hair.
